If you are going to purchase a cage (enclosure with bars) and are going to a pet store to purchase it, you must look at the bars. Small and or slender hamsters, like Robovroskis and Chinese hamsters, can easily slip through bars if they are far apart. If you have a Larger and or wider hamsters, like Winter Whites, Syrians, or Campbell's Russian, this isn't a huge issue, though it is something to look out for when purchasing your hamsters cage. Remember that the main cage must be the cage minimum or larger. You can add on other cages as well but your hamster will need a large area to run around in.
