You don't have to be able to afford the "designer" hamster supplies. There's always the off-brands! Bedding can be quite expensive, so brands like Boxo, Clean and Cozy, and even Wood Based Cat Litter are always an option. That being said, don't purchase any sketchy brands you found at your local walmart. Used trusted brands or brands other have tried and have had good reviews on.
Empty toilet paper rolls are commonly thrown out or recycled and never reused. Little do you know, these can actually be used for hamster toys! As long as they are in decent condition (not wet, dirty, or haven't been in the trash) they can be used as toobs for hamsters. Depending on how much your local hardwear store charges for basic supplies, the price will vary. There are dozens of tutorials on Youtube as well and you and need much supplies. Just be sure that you get a huge bin and plenty of patience.
