There are two hamster mixes that arecommonly known to be the best choice. These are Hazel Hamster and Harry Hamster. There are others which are directed towards certain species (Dwarf and Syrian) but Harry Hamster and Hazel Hamster are acceptable for all species as long as the corn and peas are mostly taken out. Leave very few but do not completely remove them. Hamsters do need a bit of fat and sugars to be healthy.

Dried mealworms are a great source of protein. They are usually sold in the bird and reptile section of pet stores. Some hamster treat mixes will have a few mealworms. The packs of just mealworms are best. They can be added into the food mix or be fed as treats.

Honey is high in sugar. It has a little to much. Hamsters that are pron to diabetes (Chinese, Campbell's Russian, and Winter Whites) cannot consume. 

If you have a diabetic such as a  Chinese, Campbell's Russian, or Winter White you will need to not feed as many fruits and vegetables. Fruits have more sugar than vegetables, so they should be feed in tiny slivers to these species, or not at all. Syrian are not prone to diabetes and neither are Robovroskis.  Hamsters are very small animals and need a diet to keep them healthy and fit. So a diet would be taking out most the corn, peas, etc, out of the food mix. You can put these in a air tight container. And store it in the fridge to prevent bugs. You should only give these as treats or they can be given in your hamsters food mix. The max is about three and they shouldn't be fed every meal. Diarrhea is a very unhealthy sign and it is when they animals feces becomes very watery.  It can be caused by to many fruits and vegetables or other moist foods. If your hamster has diarrhea then you should see a veterinarian. Vegetables are most recommended because they have a very low amount of sugar. They are very nourishing and have lots of health benefits.

Hamsters can not eat onions, citric fruits, chocolate, tomato leafs, junk food (crisps/chips, donuts, etc), almonds, potatoes, etc.  If you want to make a home made hamster treat make sure that non of the ingredients contain any of these items.
